Doctors Alliance for Better Public Healthcare
A group of medical professionals in Ireland set up Doctors Alliance for Better Public Healthcare fifteen years ago.
In 2007 their aim was to:
Advocate for the requirement to develop publicly-funded healthcare- rather than let the market supply poorly coordinated private services.
Highlight that public services, including hospitals and GP services, are under-funded.
Articulte that the National Treatment Purchase Fund (NTPF) would not support the reduction in hospital waiting lists.
Show that the Irish system needed more hospital beds.
More consultants and GPs would be needed-through agreement of new contracts.
In 2021, we can see that the same challenges exist, except they are worse.
